#WeAreNigerianCreatives

Digital media, specifically Twitter, has seen the birth of movements through the use of hashtags (#). They have been a great format to be succinct in calls for change and recognition and #WeAreNigerianCreatives is one of them.

#WeAreNigerianCreatives is a fantastic movement created by Olaloye Bunmi that seeks to break traditional expectations of what a career in Nigeria should look like; it spotlights the talents that break the mould, push boundaries, and ignite conversations. From hyper-realists, to photographers, to animation, this hashtag is further evidence of the bubbling genius that is cooking in the Giant of Africa. Below are a snapshot of a few that caught my eye:IMG_6020

I am always on the look out for new and exciting artists of African descent to keep an eye out for to share their works, so I am particularly excited about this hashtag and hope to see a proliferation of different versions that represent the 54 nation-states on the Motherland. You can expect there to be a post a few of these talented individuals soon enough! If you haven’t scrolled through this hashtag, be sure to do so! It is a beacon of light to witness young and upcoming artists make use of this digital space to share their talent.
